Alisha and Navanga’s Pretty Pastel Wedding in Cambridge

Alisha and Navanga met on a social media site in 2003. Alisha lived in Barrie and Nav lived in Toronto. They talked on the phone frequently but their distance kept them from meeting in person. Eventually, they realized their relationship was something special and they officially met in person in 2004. Since then they've been inseperable.

Read all about Alisha and Nav's relationship as well as their pretty pastel wedding in Cambridge. The day was beautifully photographed by MunaLuchi coterie member Samantha Clarke Photography.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Finding love online certainly isn't a new concept. Dating websites are a dime a dozen these days. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, name a few, but in 2003 we met on a social site called MeetMeInTO. Despite the geographical distance between us, Nav living in Toronto and I living in Barrie, we spent countless hours communicating with one another through MSN messenger and via phone. We realized after talking to each for awhile — why not meet up? We met in person on July 1, 2004. The rest is history!

Nav came into my life at the age of 17 years old. Twelve years ago, he took a GO bus from Toronto to Barrie to visit me, and we've been inseparable. Distance was the only thing that kept us apart. Fast forward to present day and our relationship has only gotten stronger. When two people are meant for each other, no time is too long, no distance is too far, and no one can ever tear us apart.

Nav proposed on November 15, 2014 in North Battleford SK at Boston Pizza. At that time I lived Meadow Lake, SK (which is 3 hours North of Saskatoon) and he lived in La Loche, SK (which is 6 hours North of Saskatoon) so were only able to see one another on weekends because we were 3 hours apart. We both lived in rural communities so we tried to go to the city as often as possible. He said he had to meet up with someone in the city so I just tagged along with him. We went to Boston Pizza for lunch and he said he had to go to the washroom. He came back with a dozen red roses and basically said a few words and asked if I would marry him. I can't really remember what he said because I was "ugly crying" but I remembering saying "you really like me."

What was wedding shopping like for you? It was pretty easy. I was open to trying different gowns and that's what I did. The first store I went to I saw "my dress" and I said to myself I could see myself wearing that dress. The only down fall was I couldn't try it on because the size was too small. The third store I went to had the dress but not in the color I wanted. I tried on the dress and I said "yes to the dress." The other thing that helped me picked the dress was time. I was visiting my family in Ontario and I had a sort period of time because I was flying back to SK. My wedding dress was beautiful, he had a mix of different colors silver, champagne, ivory, silver, gold lace, tulle, and sparkle! It was also fitted to show off all my curves.

What is your best memory from your wedding? EVERYTHING

What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? It's YOUR day, don't forget that. It always seemed to get lost with all of the little things going on. You can't make everyone happy, as long as the two of you are good everything else will work out.
