It was early July when Yinka boldly sent Seyi a Facebook message.
“…I hope you don’t mind me contacting you sort of out of the blue. I asked your sister Busola to inquire if it was okay to contact you on FB. I don’t mean to be too
forward, but is it okay if I call you sometime? Talking to you will
give me a chance to formally introduce myself. Hope to hear from you
soon. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week.” Though forward, his approach was genuine and it caught Seyi’s attention. She happily gave him her phone number and they began talking later that week. They’d both been living in separate cities at the time so it would be a month later when they met for the first time. Their connection was nothing short of profound and it officially sparked the beginning of their forever.
The couple wed in Minneapolis, MN with a beautiful Nigerian wedding. Coterie Member Faith of This Love Weddings planned every moment of their lovely day. Photographer, Dotun Ayodeji, shot the images for this elegant blue and yellow affair.

Describe the style of your dress and tell us about your shopping experience:
My dress was a trumpet style. The color was champagne gold but it looked white in pictures which was great. Wedding shopping was easy for me. I did not try on too many dresses I bought something off the rack at a great price and I added my own details on like my belt and cap sleeves.
What are some of your favorite memories from the wedding?
My little sister came up with the hashtag #seyinka2014 before the wedding and that was really cool. Also all our bouquets were made by myself and lots of friends and family. We also had the men wear brooches instead of boutonnieres to tie it all together.
How was culture incorporated in your wedding?
We had a traditional Nigerian wedding on Thursday. Most of our guests purchased the fabric we offered and everyone looked great in it.
What advice would you give to our brides-to-be?
Something will go wrong, be prepared for the hiccups and that way when they do occur you can just laugh about it.
