Like a storybook romance, the first chapter of Brittany and Demetie’s love began on the campus of Chicago State University, where they first crossed paths during student interviews in applying to a pharmacy program. Both having been accepted they immediately had a connection and from that point on became close friends and study partners. From their determination and support of each other, feelings of friendship blossomed into a deep love and romance. Absolutely inseparable they continued to carry each other throughout their academic pursuits. When their love was rewarded with the beautiful gift of a baby girl on the way, Demetrie, knowing they had both found their soulmate, began planning their perfect proposal…

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Demetrie and I met in 2014 during our college of pharmacy interviews at Chicago State University. We both were accepted. When school started we instantly became close friends. As time passed we realized that we wanted to be more than friends. We studied together, motivated each other, and graduated together on May 9th of 2018 as Doctors of Pharmacy. During the summer of 2017 we were excited to find out we would be expecting a baby girl come Christmas time. Demetrie decided to propose at the closing of our baby shower in front of all our family and friends.

Describe your engagement session. We chose 3 looks. I would describe the first look as chic and sexy. In the first look we wanted to capture the essence of Chicago, the city in which we met and fell in love. In the second look, we wanted to embody black excellence and black love. For our last look, we included our beautiful baby girl. For this look we just wanted express the love we have for each other, but most importantly the love we have for our daughter.

What did you do on your first date? We went out for Chinese food, which is still one our favorite things to do.

What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We enjoy traveling. We love spending time with our daughter.

How has wedding planning been so far? So far the wedding planning is going great. We elected to get a wedding planner, which has made planning a lot easier.

Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. We are looking forward to just being happy and enjoying ourselves with family & friends as we enter a new chapter in our lives.
