H&M Launches Sustainable Bridal Styles

The first things that come to our minds, when we think of the Swedish fashion chain, H&M, is: dresses, blouses, jeans, sportswear, shoes, and accessories. We do not think of it as a place that offers wedding dress selections. However, H&M has included three bridal dresses into its newest eco-friendly Conscious Collection. The entire collection is affordable and made from more sustainable materials and ornate embellishments. It was inspired from the Paris Musée des Arts Decoratifs’ archives. (H&M is also the sponsor for the museums’s exhibition, “Fashion Forward -Three Centuries of Fashion.”)

Julia Restoin Roitfield, Parisian art director and style maven, is the face of the collection. She modeled in the long silk-blend lace dress, one of the collection’s three wedding dresses. Roitfield is committed to sustainable fashion and continues to engage in environmental issues. The materials that make up the Conscious Collection include: hemp, organic silk, recycled linen, and beads and rhinestones made from recycled glass. The three wedding dresses are described as, “a feast of lightness and embellishment materialised in dreamy, draped lines, for the bride wanting to be as beautifully dressed as she is conscious.” The entire collection is now in select stores worldwide and online for a limited time.
