El-Kendra and Earl’s fall inspired engagement photos at the University of Virginia captured by Gegi Photography put us in the perfect cozy season mood!
The third time was a charm with the couple’s outdoor engagement shoot with the weather being just right. After having met through mutual friends the couple went out on a double date of course due to Earl being so nervous (how cute is that!) With their son by the couple’s side Earl decided to pop the question at their son’s birthday bash and of course she said YES!

How we met…
Through mutual friends at bike week in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Our first date…
Our first date was a double date to Applebee’s. Earl was nervous so he invited his best friend and his girlfriend.
Our proposal day…
We were celebrating our son’s 5th birthday at our home. I was thinking it was just another birthday party, but it turned into an engagement party. His cousin told me to come take a photo because we (me, our son, and Earl) had on matching shirts and when I turned around, he was on one knee!
When we knew…
El-Kendra: When he asked me to go to church with him. I’ve always loved going to church and didn’t have that in my past relationship so I knew then that he was different.
Earl: Early in our relationship Kendra supported me at the beginning stages of my career. We also spent a lot of time going to church together. There are many things that attracted me to her, but these are the two that stood out a lot to me.
Our engagement session theme…
It was beautiful on the campus of UVA. The weather was perfect and it was our third attempt of trying to get engagement photos. We didn’t have a theme but we wanted fall colors since our wedding was in October and our wedding colors were rust, green and ivory.
A few of our favorite things…
Relaxing at home on the couch and watching movies or catching up on some of our favorite shows like Chicago PD, FBI, and Sisters.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Planning has been fun and stressful. It’s a lot! My advice is to hire a wedding planner instead of trying to do everything on your own. I can’t wait to see it all come together!
What we’re looking forward to…
El-Kendra: Finally marrying my best friend and having all of our family and friends there to celebrate with us.
Earl: Seeing how beautiful my wife will look in her wedding dress on our special day and officially joining together as one.
