When and how did you get started with your business?
I got started with Eyecatchers last summer, I was actually selling handmade beaded earrings at the time to raise money to pay for my Doula training under the International Center for Traditional Childbearing that was held in Portland, Oregon in the winter (I reside in Cleveland, Ohio). I had two “earring parties” and I was able to raise the funds to attend. Shortly after that I just continued selling earrings because I actually had fun being creative while making a profit.I was getting great feedback from my customers but the main critique/request that stuck in my head was “You don’t have any bigger earrings?”. I decided to start making larger earrings and test them out while I was in public and the response GREAT! I decided to fully indulge in the large fabric earrings because they were different, vibrant and most importantly not heavy on the ears.
What are the best selling items in your shop?
The best selling item in my shop is the Giraffe Moon earrings. Giraffe seems to be a pretty popular print right now and it also has a neutral look that can go with anything that you wear. Another popular earrings is the Music Loveearrings, everyone loves music and it’s the perfect earring to showcase the love for it.
What did you do before starting your shop?
Before I started making earrings I was working retail at a clothing store.
Anything else you’d like our readers to know?
Eyecatchers are handmade with love and women are truly the inspiration behind my designs. I started makingearrings to become a Doula, which is a birth assistant that helps women before, during and after childbirth. Doula provides emotional support, a listening ear for mothers and helps unite the community through the birth of babies. Eyecatchers, I believe have a similar effect, they make women feel good and possess a certain uniqueness to their personal style and it gets women to start engaging more with each other. I support all acts of sisterhood.

What’s in your handbag right now?
Receipts! Lol. I always keep a book, currently reading Steal Like An Artist by Austin Kleon, wallet, business cards, phone, ipod, lipgloss, permanent markers (don’t ask), pens and random artwork from my students.

If you could travel to any location right now, where would it be?
Egypt, I would love to experience seeing the pyramids up close!
Favorite thing to do?
Besides making earrings, I like to go to concerts,yoga, crack jokes all day, read and spend time with my family.
Guilty pleasure?
The over indulgence of french fries from time to time (they have to be fresh cut with bbq sauce)
