Although the jury is still out on who won the night as the best dressed on the red carpet at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards, certain trends have definitely won the evening’s top prize!
The stars overwhelming chose black which was crowned the color of the night with sprinkles of metallics and pops of bubble gum bright colors. What seemed to be the most noticeable were designs from Acne Studios, Alexander McQueen and, Thom Browne. These deconstructed nods to historical themes in fashion remixed the elements of the traditional men’s tuxedo and women’s panniers.
Commenting on her SS23 collection in which Elle Fanning’s gown was featured, Creative Director for Alexander McQueen Sarah Burton said that “They are stripped back, dissected and focused on cut, drape and silhouette. The new generation of stars and their stylists are clearly leading the charge and silently marching away from traditional evening wear to more experimental looks for the red carpet.
