COVID couldn’t stop this couple from making things official. Their impromptu elopement included their children and was light, airy, and just plain fun.
It’s been eight months since the Coronavirus pandemic, yet every day we are inspired by stories of love and triumph despite COVID. Each day, we are honored to receive submissions from couples of all walks of life from all corners of the world. The couple we’re featuring today had all intentions of having their wedding as planned on September 12, 2020, but decided it would be best to elope in order to keep their original date while planning a larger event for family and friends the following year. To commemorate their elopement, they moved forward with a fun and laid back photoshoot and family session with Images by Geneva. No fluff, no fuss…just pure love and joy. Scroll through to learn more about Lola and Kenneth’s love story.

Tell us your proposal story:
So Kenneth was in the kitchen and acted like he stubbed his toe on the kitchen island. I just sat there but when I realized he was still saying ouch and hadn’t gotten up, I walked around the island and saw that he was on one knee holding the ring. He asked me to be his wife and I said about time and HELL YES! lol
Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
It was a little rough in the beginning but then turned out great! we had a family shoot with our kids to start off and our littlest one was not feeling it so she cried for a while. Once she was calmed down with her older sisters, we were really able to enjoy our shoot as a couple. We had a lot of fun and it showed. For the family shoot, the theme was that we are all part of a book…a story. Kenneth was the ghostwriter, I was the author, and the kids were the forward, prologue, epilogue. For our couple shoot, no theme, but Kenneth’s favorite color is blue, so we did a play on various shades of blue. It was hot so we kept it light and airy. It worked out really well.
What did you do on your first date?
Went to dinner and then went out for drinks afterward. He was so nervous so I had to keep trying to relax him and after a couple of drinks, it worked.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
Everything! LOL. We really enjoy just talking with each other, playing jokes and laughing, praying and growing in our faith and relationship with God, EATING, and watching Netflix. That is my forever quarantine Bae
How has wedding planning been so far?
It has actually been relatively easy, despite COVID. We did have to postpone our larger wedding with family and friends but will still Elope this year on the date we originally set out. Our Vendors have been responsive, have actually been affordable, and because we are going for a simple yet classy theme, our vendors were able to accommodate what we were envisioning. Also, our vendors have been flexible about postponing most activities till 2021.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
