Tell us how you met. My cousin married Jarvis’ cousin. I ended up being a bridesmaid at their wedding. As part of her bachelorette party festivities, we went to a “famous” hole-in-the-wall in Lafayette, LA…Miami Moon! The bride introduced me to her cousin, Jarvis. The rest is history!
Tell us all about the proposal. Jarvis loves to cook and entertain! That particular morning, he got up, started cleaning and said that he wanted to invite some people over that evening . No biggie! The closer it got to the time that people were supposed to come over, he kept asking me what I was going to put on and what I was going to do with my hair. My hair was twisted and he knows that if I’m just going to be around the house, I won’t untwist it! One of my friends called me and asked me the same thing so I was getting frustrated wondering why did it matter…I was going to be at home! As time went on, my closest friends arrived AND my parents! It started to feel weird and then it happened!
What did you do on your first date? Our first date was “different.” Jarvis worked in Alaska at the time so our “dating” took place over the phone for two months. Which wasn’t a bad thing because we really got the chance to know each other because all we had was the phone. In December 2013 I traveled to Alaska and we’ve been together ever since!
How long have you been together? We officially met October 2013.
What do you love most about him? There are a few things that I love about Jarvis. The main thing is his compassion and willingness to help others.
