It’s not often that you link a carnival and engagement session together. Today’s engagement love story is of Gloria and DeMarcus, a cute couple with the cutest photos. The setting was fun, unique, and playful…and made for a really nifty backdrop. Check out their session shot by Houston photographer, Owen, of Owen Jr. Photography.
The Proposal: “DeMarcus told me we were going to visit his Grandmother. While on the way there, he suggested we stop and browse at a venue we found while window shopping a few weeks earlier. DeMarcus kept fussing with his phone and disappearing. It turns out that he was posting a picture of the ring, and that he was moments from proposing. The comments of encouragement went through the roof…I had no idea because I didn’t have a facebook account. As we daydreamed in front of the water wall, he got on one knee and asked me to marry him at that venue…and…in that very spot, I will on Sunday, March 20, 2011.” – Gloria
When asked of their favorite thing to do as a couple, Gloria explained the differences in their cultures having in influence on the activities they enjoy together, “We like to go through life as a team, finding new hangout spots in Houston, and traveling, all as a team. We also like to explore our cultural differences. I am Nigerian and DeMarcus is African-American…From the food to the traditions, they are all respected and a part of our wedding and will help define our family thereafter.”
Like most newly engaged couples, planning a wedding can cause some serious rifts and strains on the relationship. For Gloria and DeMarcus, the biggest challenges thus far have been, “The budget, the decisions, and so many obstacles put in our way. They were all constant reminders to stick together and pray together so that we will come out on top.” -Gloria
