It’s not uncommon to meet the love of your life in high school, as we’ve all heard the phrase “high school sweethearts” before. With Cheri and Collin, meeting in high school is all that happened. They knew each other but never dated. It wasn’t until their 10 year high school class reunion when opportunity knocked. Collin wasn’t planning on attending the reunion until he found out that Cheri would be attending as well. The rest is history.
To celebrate their engagement this stylish couple teamed up with Petronella Photography for a romantic e-session along the Jersey City Harbor. We wish them all the best on their fall nuptials.
Wedding Date: 8.9.14
Their first date:
The day after the class reunion, Cheri and Collin had their first date at Legal Seafood and talked for 10 hours straight. Five years later, their wedding day is fast approaching, almost to the day they reconnected.
Cheri and Collin initially decided to begin planning their wedding because they woke up one Saturday and wanted to get married. Collin wanted to give her a traditional proposal so he called to say that he was in the mood for seafood, which was out of the norm for him, but Cheri went with it. Collin was so nervous on the drive to the restaurant that he drove the wrong way down a one-way street and almost collided with a truck. They had to turn into a gas station to avoid the crash!
They went to Legal Seafood, where Cheri and Collin had their first date. He reminded her of why he fell in love with her. Collin told Cheri things that he had never told her before. He got down on one knee and she said yes.
The engagement session:
Cheri and Collin didn’t have any particular theme or process to their engagement session. The two of them just picked out outfits that complimented each other.
We love hearing how brides stumble upon their wedding vendors. Tell us about your photographer. What do you love about her?
Cheri and Collin chose Petronella to be their photography, which they found on MunaluchiBridal.com. They saw her amazing work and knew that they had to meet her. When the two of them sat down with Petronella, they felt an immediate connection and it was just that simple. She took the time to get to know them and that was important to them. Her style was their style and they knew that they had to have Petronella as their photographer; they were pleased to have her capture such an important day in their lives.
What do you look forward to most on your wedding day?
We’re looking forward to saying “I do” and having fun with our family and friends.
How has the wedding planning been going so far?
For the couple, Cheri says that the planning process has been a good experience because she’s extremely organized. Their biggest challenge has been finding a suit for Collin and finding a makeup artist for herself.
