Hometown Engagement Session in Nassau, Bahamas: Dana + Nival

As early as 8th grade, Dana and Niva were friends. But it wasn’t until they matured a bit that they took their friendship to the next level. They made it “official” in the 11th grade, telling the tale of high school sweethearts making their way to the altar.

It was New Year’s Eve on Paradise Island when Nival proposed. “We usually go over the bridge to Atlantis to watch the New Year’s fireworks. At 11:59pm Nival asked me to close my eyes and I did. He held my hand and put the ring on my finger and then asked will I be his wife right in time for the fireworks at 12:00am,” Dana shares. Their loving and familial ties to the Bahamas led them to have both their wedding and engagement session on the picturesque island.

Well, we wanted to shoot where we were both familiar and comfortable and since my parents’ home is where it all started we figured we would start the shoot there. There wasn’t a theme for the engagement session we just used ideas and locations we often visited during our relationship. Before we got engaged we always said we wanted to shoot at Clifton Heritage or somewhere rich with history and Bahamian culture. We wanted the engagement shoot to be a mini preview of our wedding day theme so we picked the colors similar to those that will be worn by the bridal party.dananivalengaged-31dananivalengaged-44dananivalengaged-54dananivalengaged-57What did you do on your first date?

Our first date involved both of our parents. My family especially wanted to meet Nival before they would let me go on an official date. Nival and his mother came over to our house and they sat down and talked about expectations of the “date” and also it was a chance to acquaint themselves with each other.dananivalengaged-62dananivalengaged-67dananivalengaged-76What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?

It’s been a little over whelming coming down to the last few weeks but only because we want our day to be perfect. But it’s been a great experience none the less.dananivalengaged-120dananivalengaged-129 engagement session in nassaudananivalengaged-133 engagement session in nassauTell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
