How did you meet?
We met in Raleigh, NC on social media in December of 2013 and communicated for about 2 months before meeting. We met once and then lost contact with each other due to my work schedule as a Flight Attendant. Five months later, we connected again and started building a friendship that led us to the altar six years later.
Tell us your proposal story
Derrick proposed during my 30th birthday in masquerade attire. I was not expecting it. As I was thanking the guest for attending, Derrick interjected and started to speak. He went into how much he greatly appreciated everyone for coming and sharing this special day. He then dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him.
When did you know they were “the one”?
When I noticed that he was not threatened by my independence. I was a business owner and a flight attendant at the time. He was able to adjust to my schedule. I am maybe home for 3 days and gone for 5 days.
Describe your engagement session
We wanted to keep the theme of the wedding; Royal Elegance.
What did you do on your first date?
We went to the movies and then out to dinner. I (Justin) was so nervous I ordered a side salad for dinner. Lol
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
Hosting dinner parties.
How has wedding planning been?
Planning has been hectic. We have pushed our date back four times due to covid and Justin having two back surgeries from a car accident.
What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
Seeing each other in our tuxedos and being able to join as one while sharing the day with our family.
