Nigerian Engagement Ceremony: Dami + Niyi

Nigerian weddings are full of color and rich with tradition.  It’s always a pleasure to bring you some culture on the blog.  Here’s the nigerian (Yoruba) engagement ceremony of Dami and Niyi. (We shared their engagement session in an earlier post).

Traditionally, the ceremonies take place at the bride’s family residence.  When the groom and his family arrive, they prostrate (lay on the ground) before the bride’s parents.

Congrats to Dami and Niyi!  Check out Dami’s blog, where she documents her entire wedding planning process.  We just LOVE her style.  Kudos to Collins of Collins Metu Photography for brilliantly capturing all of the key components of the ceremony.  Be sure to visit his blog for more of his amazing work.
