Southern charm, rustic touches, and modern luxury were the elements that brought the Alabama Culinary Experience together. One extraordinary Birmingham couple, Monique and Travis, was in for a night of romance and fine dining. Planned by Brittany Bell of Brittany B Events with the assistance of Curtia Moon of MXK Events, the dining experience was housed in the historic Woodrow Hall. Upon arrival, the bride-to-be was escorted to the beauty lounge where Kunya Jones of Makeup Dash gave her a glam makeover.
The venue’s exposed brick walls made way for the rustic luxe decor. Marie of Petal Pushers, set the color scheme for the room, using plum, fuschia, and ruby red as her palette. A single round table set for two was draped in a sequin tablecloth drenched in sequins. “She adorned the room with candles, draping and a floral table scape with roses, ranunculus and kale to keep everything romantic and intimate,” Brittany shares. A vintage mirror served as an oversized menu for the special guests. In addition, calligrapher Julie Sumerel hand-wrote the couple’s names on acrylic and created individual cocktail and dinner menus for the two.
Chef Deidra Moore prepared a gourmet meal that included scallops, pan seared lamb chops with her signature red cherry sauce, and crispy potato cakes stuffed with boursin cheese. Kimberly Wiggins of Cakes by Kim, LLC created a miniature two-tier frosted red velvet cake with edible gold flakes. As the lovely couple dined, they enjoyed live music from violinist Premise Cunningham.

One evening Travis took Monique to a wishing well in downtown Birmingham and told her his wish was for her to be his wife. The couple will be tying the knot this Spring in Birmingham.
