This Couple Brought Major Style to Their NYC Engagement Session

Although Jennifer and Imonitie are planning for an Atlanta wedding next month, they were lucky enough to have their photographer, Cathi Milanes, follow them around the iconic areas of NYC.  So why NYC? It’s the city they fell in love in! Tell us how you met and how he proposed.

For 2 years at our hospital we would pass each other in the hallways and only say hello. Until one day, he stopped me and formally introduced himself and invited me out to a fraternity event. I kindly declined and but he was persistent and we had our first date on Cinco de Mayo, 6 months later.

During our years of dating we traveled a lot and this particular time Paris was our destination. I was expecting a proposal in the city of love but I had no idea how and when it would happen. On our first full day of sightseeing we visited the Eiffel tower and the Notre Dame Cathedral and no proposal, until later that evening he insisted we visit the gardens of the Musée du Louvre were he led me into a beautiful garden of flowers and got down on one knee and popped the question. To my surprise, he hired a photographer to capture the moment and a full proposal photo shoot ensued!

Favorite thing to do as a couple?

Our favorite thing to do together is travel and over the years we have grown so close over our love of different cultures. We made a promise to each other to travel to 1-2 new countries a year even when the kids come!

How has wedding planning been so far?

The wedding planning has been smooth sailing thus far, thanks to our wedding planner Eliana of ellyB Events. Although we reside in NYC and getting married in Atlanta, the planning process has been smooth.

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?

We have a huge support system of family and friends and the most exciting part of our wedding day will be everyone that we love coming together on our special day.
