Sometimes, great gifts come completely disguised. They may be wrapped up in cotton or polyester when they should really come in linen and satin, all held together with bows. Tori Lynn Closson and David Thomas Simpson met over a decade ago, in 1994 at Hampton University, and became friends. Their romance would come much later and their path to togetherness would begin – and it will continue for a lifetime.
Top wedding photographer, Eli Turner, gave us a chance to peek into a day in their romance. His work is absolutely superb! Tori and David fell in love with his beautiful work when they saw the pictures he took of their friends.
This session was inspired by David’s love for planes. He is an airline pilot and the session is rife with planes taking off, landing and gliding gracefully. Speaking of gracefully, have you noticed Tori’s movement? This gorgeous woman is an amazing dancer and it shows in every step.
For Tori and David, love came…. “after being friends for over a decade. We were both going through a difficult breakup and a divorce. We supported one another and eventually decided to start to date.” That’s why they say, friendship is the most important ingredient for romance.
The couple shared that they knew this was “it”….“during a Christmas holiday when we met one another’s families for the first time.” Their families were so supportive that David felt comfortable enough to surprise the love of his life, Tori, at a family dinner.
Planning the wedding was doubly hard because Tori and David decided to have a fabulous destination wedding, but they made it work. Of course, any destination, no matter how lovely, pales in comparison to the moment when the bride and groom look into each other’s eyes and say, “I do!” For Tori the real excitement was in marrying David.
