Anita and Gary first met during the evening of Anita’s High School Prom. Following the dance a group of her friends decided to go to a diner in the city and it was there that Anita and Gary were introduced. It would be another couple of weeks until they saw each other again, but Gary wasted no time, asking Anita out on their first date. They dated for about three years, but both being very young and still with a lot to learn about life and themselves, ended up separating for almost three years. They eventually began dating again only this time they knew exactly what they wanted out of life – to spend the rest of it with each other.

For Gary’s birthday, Anita decided to throw him a surprise party and jam session with his musician friends. Towards the end of the party she began setting up the birthday cake in preparation to sing him happy birthday. She called everyone upstairs but when Gary’s best friend approached her he had in his hands a different cake that read, “Will you marry me?” Anita was so caught up in making sure everything was just right for Gary’s party that she didn’t even register what she had just read. A mutual friend accompanied with a guitar began to sing “Thinking out loud” by Ed Sheeran, and in that moment Gary approached Anita, got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife.

Gary knew Anita was “the one” when he realized that no one else could fill that special place in his heart. In Gary’s words, “I realized she was my prayer manifested, she was exactly what I prayed for…” Anita knew Gary was “the one” when she realized that she couldn’t picture her life without him. In Anita’s words, “every life scenario played out with him by my side. My partner in crime…I feel like my best self with him. God confirmed in so many ways that he was the one for me.”

Their New York wedding was contemporary with tropical vibes. Anita handpicked the bouquets from the flower district at the tropical Caribbean shops. The tropical vibe was complete with fresh coconut drinks. The Bride wore a nude Watters gown with sweetheart neckline and pleated multi-layered bottom. The train was her perfect length with jeweled fabric.

Best memories: Seeing her walk down the aisle, she was the most beautiful bride. We also had an amazing band! Being surrounded by all of our close friends and family having a great time dancing and singing along is a memory that we will never forget. We felt the love! Secretly one of the best/ funniest memories to me was when we went to Dallas BBQ’s after the wedding and split a plate of sticky wings because we are us. LOL!

Advice for engaged couples: Take your time planning, don’t rush the process. Sometimes we get so caught up in the idea of planning the wedding that we forget to enjoy being engaged. Enjoy every moment!

Quick facts from the bride:
Wedding flowers: Hand picked and paired by bride.
Favorite item on menu: Fish and chips
Bridesmaids/groomsmen gifts: Bracelets with initials and necklaces with names. Ties and Lapels for the Groomsmen.
First dance song: “All of me” by John Legend
Advice for brides: Don’t sweat the small stuff, the odds are everything won’t go exactly as planned. All the flowers, decorations and other additives are just a backdrop to the main event which is the love that you two share and the people who are excited to celebrate and share that moment with you.
