Rayshon and Yannick Macaulay wanted their home and their children first, and the wedding second. On September 27, 2026, 260 guests gathered at The Hillside Estate in Dallas, Texas, to celebrate a love story that began in Ruston, Louisiana, when Rayshon stood in front of Yannick’s car and caught his eye. It took 12 years to reach the aisle.
Guests dressed in brown, champagne, and taupe, and the bridal party wore white. Rayshon chose the Alonuko SOL-5 from the 2025 collection, then removed the arm drapes and added a custom choker. She flew to London two weeks before the wedding to confirm every detail.
Rayshon entered to “Perfect Duet” as violinist Armond Vance played along. The couple jumped the broom, and at the reception they changed into traditional Cameroonian attire for a procession honoring Yannick’s heritage. They also paid tribute to their uncle, Solomon Enow, who passed one month before the wedding. Flower girls Haizley and Harley recorded a voice note for their father that was played before they walked the aisle, and it moved him and the guests to tears.
The couple’s daughters were part of the day from the start. “It meant everything to have our girls be part of our wedding day, just as we had always wanted.”

How did you meet?
We met in a small city in Louisiana called Ruston. I was hanging out with my cousin, and she asked me to get that African man’s attention, so I did just that. I stood in front of his car, and he was just staring me up and down, literally wowed by my beauty. Little did we know, we’d be soulmates.

Tell us about the proposal
Yannick on the proposal:
My wife was celebrating her birthday, which is also the day I proposed to her, October 11, 2025. She always goes all out for her birthdays, so I knew it would be the perfect distraction.
I proposed to her at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse in downtown Dallas, surrounded by a few close family members and friends who were there to celebrate her birthday. Little did she know, I would soon be going down on one knee and asking for her hand in marriage.
After dinner, I pretended to bring her out to the patio, which had a beautiful view of Dallas, for photos and to sing “Happy Birthday.” That’s when I went down on one knee and asked her if she would marry me. She had a few rings on her fingers and literally threw them off as she said a huge YES! We all celebrated with so much happiness.
The most memorable part of the night was that no one knew there was going to be a proposal. I’m very secretive when it comes to things like this, so I wanted it to be a genuine surprise for everyone.
Although it took 12 years, I always knew and assured my wife that I would marry her and give her the wedding of her dreams, and I did just that!
We always said that when we got married, we wanted to come home to our own house and our children. So, accomplishing those things first was more of a priority for my wife and me. I knew it was the right time to ask for her hand in marriage once we had accomplished everything we said we wanted before getting married.

What did it mean to have your children be part of your wedding day?
It meant everything to have our girls be part of our wedding day, just as we had always wanted. Haizley and Harley, our little flower girls, were so happy to be a part of their parents’ big day. Every day, they would count down how many days were left until Mommy and Daddy’s wedding. They were extremely excited! They secretly left a voice note for their daddy that was played on wedding day before they walked down the aisle. That voice note was so cute and emotional that it had their daddy and the guests in tears. The video went viral on social media and touched random strangers, making them emotional. One comment said, “this is why I want to have my children before my wedding.”
Our oldest baby, Harmony, has experienced every part of this journey with us. When my husband and I met, she was 3 years old, turning 4. She’s now 16 years old! She is our everything.
If you asked her about our love, she would tell you it’s the kind of love she wants to experience in her own life. One of the things that made me fall in love with my husband was how he never asked me on a date without including Harmony. If he made me a glass of wine, he would also make her a glass of orange juice in a wine glass, lol. He loved us both wholeheartedly, which has truly been a blessing.

Tell us about your wedding vision
My wedding vision was always a bright and beautiful celebration filled with timeless colors and elegant details. I always said that I wanted my bridal party to wear white dresses because I know a lot of brides are hesitant to have their bridesmaids wear white. But my confidence is on another level, so I wanted my girls to be just as beautiful as I was!
I wanted my guests to wear brown, champagne, and taupe, and they did not disappoint. Every single guest came dressed to impress. They did not come to play! The entire wedding felt like a Tyler Perry movie filled with beautiful Black people.
How many guests attended your wedding?
We had 260 guests attend our wedding.

What cultural traditions did you incorporate into your wedding?
With me being American, it was only right that we incorporated the tradition of jumping the broom. We jumped the broom as a symbolic way of entering a new chapter of our lives together. It was especially beautiful because now I get to save that same broom for my babies to use when they have their own weddings one day.
For the reception, we changed into traditional Cameroonian attire and had a procession to showcase and honor my groom’s African culture. He was born and raised in Cameroon, Africa, and later moved to America to pursue his dreams.
We also wanted to honor our uncle, Solomon Enow, whom we loved so dearly and lost just one month before our wedding. His passing put us in such a dark place that we even questioned whether we should continue with the wedding. It was an incredibly difficult time in our lives, but we pushed through and created something so magical. I know he was looking down from heaven and enjoying every moment with us.

Tell us about your Alonuko bridal gown
My Alonuko bridal gown was originally a made-to-order design, meaning the designs are already created and you select the one you love.
I purchased my gown and began the process with Alonuko on November 15, 2025. I chose the SOL-5 dress from the 2025 collection.
What initially drew me to Alonuko was how seamlessly their mesh blends into Black women’s skin. It literally melts into the skin and creates such a beautiful effect.
During the process of having my dress made, I opted for a few customizations, including removing the arm drapes and adding a custom choker to make the dress uniquely my own. I had not yet seen a custom choker added to that particular dress before, which made it even more special.
My experience with Alonuko was absolutely beautiful, and my dress was perfect. I even flew to London two weeks before my wedding to make sure every detail was exactly right for my big day!

What songs did you choose for your ceremony and first dance?
The song I chose for my ceremony entrance was “Perfect Duet” by Ed Sheeran featuring Beyoncé. I entered when Beyoncé’s part of the song began while the incredibly talented violinist Armond Vance played along with the music. It was absolutely magical!
Our first dance song was “All My Life” by K-Ci & JoJo, which is such a beautiful and timeless song.
Where are you planning to honeymoon?
For our honeymoon, we plan to travel to the Maldives, a beautiful destination we have always dreamed of visiting. We plan to spend a full week there with our phones put away, simply enjoying each other and this new chapter of our lives.
What was your favorite moment of the entire wedding weekend?
My favorite moment of the entire weekend was seeing all of our family fly in from different parts of the world, including London, California, Canada, and so many other places, just to celebrate our marriage. It truly made us feel extremely loved and reminded us of how blessed we are to have such an amazing support system.

What advice would you give to other couples?
The advice we would give other couples is to take your time and do what is best for you and your partner. There is no fixed formula for how long you should be together or how long you should be engaged before marriage.
Do what is best for the two of you, follow your own path, and don’t feel pressured by societal expectations or timelines. Your relationship is yours, so create a timeline that works for you.

What was it like planning your Hillside Estate wedding in Dallas?
Working with my planner, @ishine.events, was such a beautiful journey. I came with my vision, and she brought it to life beautifully.
The late-night phone calls, the tears, the stress: she handled it all so well. She supported me through every moment and kept me in the right headspace whenever I felt overwhelmed or wanted to give up and just start throwing things together.
She constantly assured me that everything would be beautiful and that it would all work out exactly as I imagined. She is forever my person. I would choose her over and over again, and I feel extremely blessed to have met her.
Truly, she is an angel.
