Peacock Themed Wedding in Georgia With a Nontraditional Wedding Gown – Tamara and Harold

Tamara is not your typical bride.  Not by a long shot.  For her Georgia wedding, she opted for a peacock-like wedding dress…turquoise with brown tulle and peacock feathers galore.  The wedding reception mimicked her bridal style…with teal frosted cupcakes and gold chargers against turquoise table linens.  This colorful wedding definitely has the most peacock-inspired details we’ve seen on this blog, and certainly, there are some steal-worthy ideas.  Congrats to the lovely couple and thanks to Photos by Pru for sharing these lovely images!

The first encounter…

My husband and I met at work. He was a new employee. I initially noticed him and began to have a secret crush on him. After months of observing a building up the nerves to approach him, I finally mustard up the courage. In shock, he stated that he was involved in a relationship. After a couple of months, of distant hellos and goodbyes. He informed me that he and his girlfriend were no longer together. The rest is history.

Harold’s proposal was beyond beautiful. He included my 12 year old daughter. I came home after a long day at work. My daughter came down the steps dressing in her Sunday’s best. Harold followed in a suit and time with a beautiful ring in his hand. He got on one knee and of course I said “Yes”.

From the bride…

Because I am a type A person. I decided no one could organize the wedding better than myself. I took on the challenge to single handedly orchestrate an intimate, romantic, beautiful celebration. My wedding’s theme was as direct result of the Peacock wedding gown. I decided that a peacock theme wedding would work wonderfully with my love of the 1920s and old Hollywood. I used Ebay, Wedding Wire, and Recycled Bride as my go to for all wedding décor.

Wedding Style…

My wedding day was beyond words. I chose a nontraditional venue and wedding gown. My wedding was held at an old train station 550 Trackside located in Lawrenceville, GA. The venue provided my wedding with a dramatic yet sophisticated air.

After searching through a sea of white dresses. I became bored with traditional wedding gowns. While shopping in Buford, GA, I saw a sign stating bridal consignment. I thought this may be interesting as in the window was gowns which spoke more to the pageant world than bridal world. While trying on yet another white gown, I saw a rack of gowns in my dressing room. My gown was standing proud waiting on my arrival. This gown said “Tamara”. The peacock bust and chocolate brown color was an instant choice.

My advice to any soon-to-be bride is don’t feel tied down to tradition. Allow your wedding to reflect you and your future husband.

He loves..He tells me that he loves my mind the most, however I believe otherwise.
She loves…I love that he loves me unconditionally. I can totally be myself. The good, bad, and the ugly.
