You don’t have to be a fan of the show to know that Game of Thrones is one of the most popular shows on TV today. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the show’s storylines, but I am a huge fan of how the show looks; the costumes, the horses, and the overall vintage look and feel of it.
When I decided to create this Game of Thrones Inspired Styled Shoot, it’s the romantic vintage feel that I wanted to capture. My color palette of pale blue and gold came from the beautiful flowing blue gowns that the show’s main character, Daenerys Targaryen, is often seen wearing. Because of the era in which the show is set, I chose to incorporate calligraphy from Distinctive Inscriptions, with a worn appearance.
What’s a kingdom without a castle? I was able to do the shoot, photographed by Sophia Barrett Studios, at the only castle in Atlanta, Rhodes Hall. It provided the perfect setting for the shoot, with a tablescape adorned with linen from I Do Linen, dinnerware from We Rent Atlanta, beautiful woodsy and natural florals from Ken’s Flowers and Gifts, and dragon decals from Ten23Designs. My model Qri Montague was able to capture the natural beauty of Daenerys Targaryen with natural makeup by Dawn Lee. She was styled in an airy wedding gown from Bel Fiore Bridal. She wore her hair in braid to top off her bridal look.
Qri was accompanied by model Vincent Anthony, who had striking characteristics of the show’s character, Khal Drogo. Wearing a long ponytail, Vincent was dressed in a tuxedo from Savvi Formal Wear. Together, Qri and Vincent created magic and bring the vision to life. It was truly like being in a modern version of a very vintage show.
Now that the season has ended, I hope that this styled shoot will offer up enough pretty to tide you over. Enjoy!
