Keyede and Oseiwe exchanged vows at the oldest cathedral in Portugal during their destination wedding celebration! Following their ceremony, their dreamy, soft reception took place in a glass greenhouse and featured twinkling lights, warm glowing candles, and ornate decor.
Keyede and Oseiwe’s love story began when they both attended a mutual friend’s wedding in Nigeria. About a month after the wedding, their mutual friend messaged them both, saying she wanted to introduce them. They were intrigued and agreed to be put in touch.

– Keyede
After two months of connecting, Oseiwe flew from Boston to Seattle so they could finally meet in person. Their connection was undeniable, and by the end of his visit, they made their relationship official.
Despite Keyede’s hectic work schedule, Oseiwe was able to pull some strings and convince her to come with him to Miami for what she thought was a friend’s birthday celebration. Keyede had no suspicions of a proposal until they were walking down a dock to the yacht (the supposed venue of the party), and she noticed they were all alone, except for a photographer. She knew at that moment that Oseiwe was going to propose. She, of course, said “Yes!” and they celebrated their engagement with a private yacht ride, listening to their personal playlist, as the sun set and the Miami skyline illuminated.
Keyede and Oseiwe’s destination wedding in Braga, Portugal, featured breathtaking, elegant details from start to finish! The ceremony took place in the oldest cathedral, not only in Portugal but in the Iberian Peninsula.
What made it even more magical was its stunning mix of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Manueline architecture; it’s truly a masterpiece. Saying “I do” in a place so rich in history and beauty meant the absolute world to us.– Keyede
Their fairytale-like reception took place in a glass greenhouse, decorated with an abundance of candles, twinkling lights, crystal details, drapes, and white florals, creating a soft, dreamy, and elegant atmosphere, beaming with refined romance.
We were going for a vibe that was classic, elegant, and timeless, and I think we nailed it! We used tons of candles to set the mood and add that warm, romantic glow. Drapes (thankfully back in style!) gave the reception an even softer, more dreamy feel.– Keyede

How did you meet?
Our love story began during Keyede’s trip to Nigeria for our mutual friend’s wedding – Aije. About a month after Keyede returned to the US, we both received a surprising text from Aije. She mentioned that she wanted to introduce us to each other. Intrigued and curious, we agreed, and Aije connected us.
For two months, we exchanged messages and phone calls, getting to know each other more deeply with each conversation. We shared our stories, dreams, and everyday moments, feeling a growing sense of anticipation and excitement. Then, Oseiwe made the bold move; he flew across the country from Boston to Seattle to meet me in person. When we finally met, it felt like the missing piece of a puzzle falling into place. We spent time together, exploring the city and discovering that our connection was even stronger face-to-face. By the end of his visit, we knew we wanted to be together, and we made our relationship official. From that moment on, our love story continued to unfold in the most wonderful ways. We can’t deny that God orchestrated our union!

Tell us about the proposal.
It all happened in Miami. Oseiwe had mentioned that his friend was planning a birthday trip there and asked if I could come along as his plus one. With my hectic work schedule, I honestly didn’t think I’d be able to make it. Naturally, Oseiwe had to cook up another excuse to get me there (haha!). Somehow, he managed to convince me, and that’s how I ended up in Miami.
The day after we arrived, I was told we were heading to a “birthday party on a yacht.” I didn’t suspect a thing. I got dressed up, thinking we were going to celebrate with his friend and a bunch of guests. But when we arrived at the venue, something felt… off. We were the only ones there. Just us. Then I noticed a photographer snapping pictures as we walked down the dock, and that’s when it hit me: he’s about to propose. We boarded the yacht, and with the Miami skyline behind us, he got down on one knee. I said yes!
The rest of the evening was pure magic: a private yacht ride, just the two of us, with music from our special playlist playing in the background as the sun dipped behind the ocean.

Describe your wedding style.
Decor
We were going for a vibe that was classic, elegant, and timeless, and I think we nailed it! We used tons of candles to set the mood and add that warm, romantic glow. Drapes (thankfully back in style!) gave the reception an even softer, more dreamy feel. We knew we wanted the reception in a greenhouse as it just has that special, distinctive ambiance we loved. For the seating, we opted for long, family-style tables dressed in white roses, baby’s breath, and candles as centerpieces. And for a fun twist, each guest had a personalized name tag made from oyster shells, which added such a unique touch!
Honestly, I’m so glad we were able to bring our vision to life, all thanks to our amazing wedding planner and the incredible venue staff.
Wedding Dress
I knew I wanted a dress that truly reflected my personal style; something unique, elegant, and effortlessly simple. I’ve always had a soft spot for Mikado silk, so naturally, my dress was crafted from that luxe, structured fabric. It was timeless, refined, and everything I dreamed of.

Suit
I wanted something understated yet impeccably tailored; clean lines, sharp fit, timeless silhouette. It was custom-made by one of Nigeria’s premier menswear brands, and it delivered on every detail.

How was the wedding shopping experience?
Bride: Wedding shopping was surprisingly seamless for me. As a self-proclaimed shopaholic, I already knew exactly where to find everything I needed, no stress! Most of my accessories, think jewelry, shoes, and bags, were sourced from Harrods and Bicester Village, just outside London. As for the rest, including my wedding and evening dresses, nearly everything was done virtually or online (thank goodness for modern technology!).
Groom: Honestly, almost everything was handled virtually, from fittings to final selections. It was 100% online, smooth, and surprisingly efficient. Modern convenience at its finest.

Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
Music: We’re both die-hard Afrobeats lovers, so it was a no-brainer to infuse that part of our culture into the celebration. We curated a playlist of our favorite tracks, think feel-good, high-energy vibes, and passed it along to the DJ to seamlessly blend into his set. The dance floor didn’t stand a chance!

What is your best memory from your wedding?
We’d have to say one of the most special moments was our wedding mass at the Braga Cathedral – Portugal’s oldest church and a national monument. It’s not just the oldest cathedral in the country, but also one of the oldest on the entire Iberian Peninsula. What made it even more magical was its stunning mix of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Manueline architecture; it’s truly a masterpiece. Saying “I do” in a place so rich in history and beauty meant the absolute world to us.

What is the best advice you can give to engaged couples?
As cliché as it sounds, don’t sweat the small stuff. Seriously. Focus on what really matters to you. Honestly, a few things will go off-script (lol), but if you keep your eyes on the big picture- making memories and having the time of your life, you’ll be golden!
