One of our newest coterie members, Smithalee Photography, beautifully captures the elegant bohemian wedding of Kyerra & De’Von. Taking place 49 floors above the city at the Commerce Club in Atlanta, the couple’s special day was filled with natural light, earth-tone decor, and sultry wedding day attire.

A floral-covered golden arch and photos of the couple placed around the hall added a personal touch to the ceremony. Their most anticipated moment was Kyerra’s father officiating their wedding. It was a moment they’ll never forget!

How they met…

Where do we begin?

It all started when I shadowed De’Von when he was a graphic designer. I was interested in marketing, but far from a graphic designer, and I mean VERY far. Looking back on it now, it doesn’t make sense why I was even job-shadowing graphic designers. As the day was wrapping up, I realized I had listened to his music before and asked him if he was EVERYSECND, which was rhetorical, but when job shadowing a stranger, things can get awkward quickly. We know De’Von is not the talkative one.

Let’s speed this up! He eventually DM’d me his number, and we tried talking and hanging out, but we didn’t click at all… not even the littlest bit lol. A few months passed, and I checked in on him, and we’ve talked every day since. Many don’t believe we were just friends before dating, but we were! We confided in each other regarding our “dating” life issues and just did life together as friends. We enjoyed each other’s company and grew to be together almost 24/7. I started to question our platonic relationship… I asked De’Von three times, “Do we like each other?”. The third time was the last, and we are here now…

We wouldn’t change our story for anything. Here’s to being best friends + lovers forever and always. <3

Following a year of friendship and three years of being in a serious relationship, De’Von popped the question on New Year’s Day, 2022!

Our wedding was inspired by an elegant bohemian theme. We used natural earth tones as our color palette and incorporated the braiding of a unity cord.

Decor…

The space was decorated with real flowers, including eucalyptus and pampas, with candles sprinkled throughout.  There was a floral-covered golden arch at the altar and photos of the bride and groom were placed throughout the hall.

Flowers were probably the most intricate part of the decor and design. They played an extremely important part in the entire ceremony and reception.

Wedding day looks…

The bride’s dress was a mixture of elegant and playful. A white dress with a lace top with a clean bottom. The groom wore an ivory suit with a green pocket square and a green floral brooch to match his father. The grooms shoes were a pair of brown Alexander McQueens. The bridal party wore a mixture of mahogany and dark grey to compliment the bride and groom really allowing them to shine through in every photo.

Personal details…

We added a touch of entertainment by incorporating a signature cocktail for our guests and a 360 video booth. We honored family members that could not make it by placing a picture frame in an empty seat in the front row. Kyerra’s father officiated the wedding!

Advice for other couples…

Lay out every thing you need to plan a successful wedding in a timeline. Aim to have everything done at least a month out from your date so that you can enjoy life leading up to your special day. Marry your best friend. We believe that a solid foundation is what any great relationship is built on.
