Glamorous Purple and Black Wedding in Virginia: Dana + Patrick

If Dana and Patrick’s love story sounds familiar to you it’s because we featured their city chic engagement session on our blog back in August. The beautiful couple met at their mega-church, where Patrick is the Minister of music. A place of worship for over 10,000 members, Patrick easily spotted his bride amongst the large crowd. “She would sit in the same seat every Sunday: Right elevated wing, outside aisle seat, 6 rows from the top. She’d always carried herself with poise, yet had an aloofness that somehow became the drawing factor,” Patrick shared. With his interest peaked, he got a mutual friend to introduce them. They initially communicated through a Facebook message and eventually fell in love.

The couple got married at the Hilton Inn Spa and Garden in Richmond, Virginia. The grand ballroom was home to their glamorous purple and black decor. Black sequined table coverings and purple uplighting were perfect for the luxe theme. Dana and Patrick’s stylish wedding party slay’d in all black attire, while the chic couple stunned in a white Rivini sweetheart gown and rich blue tuxedo respectively. Tell us all about the proposal!
Patrick proposed at home! He had an elaborate proposal set up at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. He left me messages in envelopes that morning on where to meet him and what time to leave the house. As I was getting ready to leave, he came through the door. I was confused and asked “I thought I was supposed to be meeting you somewhere in 15 mins?” He was so anxious to give me the ring that he cancelled the plans and surprised me with a very sweet and genuine proposal at home instead.Describe your wedding dress. What was wedding dress shopping like for you?
My wedding dress was a Rivini designer gown. It was sleek and form fitting yet elegant. I knew exactly what I wanted, so wedding dress shopping for me was the easiest part of planning the wedding.What is your best memory from your wedding?​ ​
My entrance was my best memory. I’m sure Patrick would agree. Seeing me walk down the aisle and watching him cry tears of joy…..no other moment will top that!What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?​
Hire a wedding planner. I am a wedding planner myself and even​ I needed help with Day of Coordination. You are the bride! Enjoy that moment and let someone else take care of the logistics!
