Haitian, Indian & Moroccan Themed Wedding In NY: Cathleen + Kurt

You could say Cathleen and Kurt are rekindled grade school sweet hearts. First meeting in grade school at the movies, they had no idea what the cards laid out for them in the future! Years went by without communication before they reconnected as adults. Once they began communication again they were virtually inseparable!

Both Cathleen and Kurt are art, culture, and expression enthusiasts so they incorporated these elements into their wedding.  “We pulled all elements of all the things that represent us individually and collectively and it became and our very own tradition a Haitian Indian Moroccan themed wedding.”, says Cathleen. Forgoing traditional wedding attire, Kurt and his groomsmen all dressed in a Indian garb called a Sherwani and Cathleen had henna on her hands.

Incorporation of Culture
It was full of vibrant colors and romance. Some cultural elements were the African dancers, the music, our team was a array of cultures from Haitian, Afro – Brazilian, the table decor included Moroccan lanterns and table runners and the sweetheart table was a mandap decorated with jeweled Indian cloth

Most Memorable Moment
Cathleen – Walking down the aisle. We got married Sunday evening and the last time I saw him was Friday evening. I wanted to run to him especially since I saw how emotional he was. I wanted to hug him and let him know that I was here forever.

Also the energy of Motherland Rhythms (African Dance Group) for our entrance. The adrenaline was through the roof!!!

Kurt – Cathleen coming down the aisle.

Help a Bride Out
Everything that you will and envision can happen! Anything is possible. Don’t get caught up in worrying about everyone’s feelings, cause you and your future husbands feelings matter most. This is your day and without all the bells and whistles and extensive guest list the day is about a higher entity that none of these surface items can compare. Lastly, quality over quantity!!!
