Modern Elegance Wedding in Greensboro NC: Shana + Anthony

Shana-And-Anthony-Wedding-Events-by-Nishaka-Hooman-Bahrani912Sometimes our soulmate’s are lingering just a few feet away from our cubicles. Just ask Anthony and Shana who met back in 2011 while they both worked at a local bank. “I was new with the company and Anthony was a part of a mentoring team that was chosen to assist us as we got acclimated to the business” says Shana.

The two swapped innocent convos about work related things and over time Shana began observing Anthony’s subtle hints to gain her attention. “I noticed that he would kind of linger near my desk as if he were just waiting to see if I needed assistance with anything” shares Shana.  Once her training period ended, Shana was whisked away into another area of the bank. The pair kept in touch via e-mail and eventually by phone. And of course what happened next? “A few weeks later he asked me out on a date and the rest is history” says Shana.

Now, five years later the pair once connected through a bank training, are happily married. See, finding love in the workplace isn’t such a bad thing! Scroll on for more of this pair’s love story and Anthony’s adorable proposal! The couple’s gorgeous modern-elegance wedding in Greensboro, NC was crafted by coterie member Nishaka Proctor of Events By Nishaka and affectionally captured by Hooman Bahrani of Vesic Photography.

Tell us about the proposal!
Shana: Anthony proposed on April 18, 2014. We went out to dinner earlier that night and I noticed that he kept bringing up the topic of marriage. We had talked about getting married before but he always said he wasn’t ready, so I didn’t think anything of it. Well to my surprise, when we ret urned home from dinner there was a box on the counter. I ran and opened it, but it was empty. I was disappointed, but I didn’t want to show it so I just walked away.

When I returned to the room, Anthony asked me to open the box again. Despite my hesitation I decided to oblige and I was stunned to actually find a ring in it this time. Standing in our kitchen, with just the two of us and our dog, Anthony looked at me and said “So will you marry me?” And of course, I said yes!

Describe your wedding dress. What was wedding shopping like for you?
Shana: Wedding dress shopping for me was a process. When I first got engaged, my mom and I went dress shopping and I remember walking away feeling overall underwhelmed. I decided to wait a few months and try going to a different bridal salon with my mom and aunt and starting all over. I went into the appointment thinking I knew exactly what I wanted, but by the end of the appointment, I had said yes to a dress that was nothing like I would have ever imagined I would have wanted!

My dress was a fully beaded and lace gown with a sweetheart neckline and a train. I chose to add a crystal belt and a veil to complete the look. Everything came together beautifully and I was so happy on my wedding day!

What is your best memory from your wedding?
My favorite memory from our wedding would have to be my entrance. From the moment the curtain opened, to reveal me standing there with my father and grandfather, I saw him and it was as if everyone else in the room disappeared and it was just the two of us. It was an indescribable feeling and something that we will both cherish forever.

What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
Don’t sweat the small stuff! It’s very easy to become consumed by the wedding planning process, but remember your wedding only happens once in a lifetime, so stop and enjoy every moment of it. Also, if it’s in your budget, hire a wedding planner. They take on all of the stress and burden so that you can just focus on having a good time.
