duncan_wedding36

After seven years together Nikki and Brent were joined as husband and wife in an emotional ceremony on November 5, 2016 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in the company of beloved family and friends. The bride, escorted by her proud father, walked down the aisle in an ivory fit & flare dress with shear bodice and beaded, sculpted neckline, trailing an extended lace train – while her groom awaited overwhelmed with emotion…

Read all about Nikki & Brent’s love story, romantic proposal, and wedding experience – beautifully captured by MunaLuchi Coterie Ambassador Cierra Hicks of Southern Amore’ Studios.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We’ve been together for seven years. We knew each other since we were in high school. But never got to know each other until after Katrina. We just happened to bump into each other and got reacquainted and everything went from there! The next day after we reconnected he called me to see where I was and popped up at the Grocery store with roses. It was a planned surprise.
Proposal: We planned a meet & greet for the bridal party. It was a hectic day of getting everything together for the party. I thought he was getting the ring later in the year. But while I was in the mall, so was he. He said that I almost caught him buying the ring, but he had two of his groomsmen finish getting it while we met up. Later on that day during the meet & greet, he surprised me with the ring I wanted & of course I cried!

What do you love most about him? I love the way he loves me, not only me but the way he loves and cares for my son as if he were his own and that means the world to me. He also makes me a better me!

What do you love most about her? Her strong and loving personality. Her ability to humble me, and her confidence.

How did you know she was the one? When I noticed she supported me no matter what.

What are you looking forward to most as a newlywed couple? Bride – Starting our next chapter in life together & continuing to grow! Groom – Helping each other grow every way possible and adding to our family.

What was wedding shopping like for you? My dress was an Eve of Milady from the boutique collection, ivory on ivory purchased from Pearls Place. My shopping experience was so stressful yet so exciting. It feels as though I tried on millions of dresses. I think it was really only 6 though. I picked one dress that I was in love with and made the mistake of showing my bridesmaids and they made me hate it. My sister/ Maid of Honor came to the rescue and made me realize I had to pick what I wanted to wear and not what everyone else thought I should wear. I tried on my dress and the rest is history.

Bridesmaids/Groomsmen gifts: Bridesmaids – shirts, wine glass, bath bomb and tiny bottle of wine, also their jewelry to wear the day of. Groomsmen – their favorite NFL team socks, personalized shot glass, and their favorite mini drink!
Favorite item on the menu: My Aunt Mel’s Gumbo!
First dance song: “Day One” by Tamia.

What is your best memory from your wedding? It was when I saw all of my Bridesmaids transform into the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen, and their faces when they saw me… Also, the moment when it was pouring down rain when I arrived to the church. All of our groomsmen came to the car I was in and they all shielded me from the rain. I was in the middle of a football huddle, everyone was wet but me… And when I got in the church and began to walk down the aisle with my Father and remembering to being thankful that he was still here to be there for me on my special day… And then when I saw my future husband waiting for me on the other end with tears down his face, priceless! And last but not least, walking into our reception and seeing how beautiful everything was and finally seeing all my ideas and hard work come to life!

What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Have a great support system and just enjoy every moment, because it goes quickly!
