How did you meet?

We met through his cousin.

Tell us about the proposal

He proposed at what was supposed to be a surprise Birthday Party but once I asked him what color plates he got and he looked at me like he didn’t know he had to get anything else but food for the dinner party … I intervened and did the decor with my family. Suspecting he would propose, I made sure I had my nails, hair, and makeup done.

Wedding Style

My wedding dress was custom by Ese Azenabor. I wanted a real Ball Cinderella gown for the ceremony and Jessica Rabbit sexy for the reception. I knew I wanted something that nobody else had and I wanted to sparkle from every angle (which I did). Ese was amazing, down to earth, and made my trips to Texas extra special.

The first trip to Texas was with the maid of honor and matron of honor. Second, my fiancé and he stayed at the hotel while I got fitted. The last fitting was special to me as I took my daughter and not being able to have my mom physically with me taking my daughter and having a mother-daughter experience with her that she will remember when it’s her time to be married was so emotional for me. She was the first person to see me in my dress completely done and she called me a princess.

Did you incorporate any culture into the wedding?

We did not incorporate any culture but we wanted to have a moment for our parents that were no longer here. His dad passed away in April before the wedding and my mom in July of 2017. So to light a remembrance candle in their honor and have their faces on the candles meant a lot.

What is your best memory from your wedding?

My best memory would be Avery Wilson (celebrity singer) singing my favorite “Her” song… His voice (inserts the chef’s kiss LOL). He can do no wrong and his voice was top tier for every song.

What is the best advice you have for engaged couples?

The best advice is to have fun and live in the moment because it happens sooo fast and then it’s over.
