Sneha and Deepan celebrated their love and shared culture in a vibrant South Indian Tamil Wedding at The Club at Ruby Hill in Pleasanton, California.
Sometimes friends make excellent matchmakers; in Sneha and Deepan’s case, a mutual friend’s introduction sparked the beginning of forever love!
“Whatever he saw in us clearly worked,” Sneha reveals, “because we think we make a pretty good match.”
Following Deepan’s beautiful destination proposal in the small town of Ravello on the Amalfi Coast, the couple began planning a gorgeous South Indian Tamil Wedding at The Club at Ruby Hill.
Their fall nuptials were a vibrant celebration honoring their shared South Indian culture.
Together, they blended tradition with personal style, wearing two different outfits for their ceremony, including two silk sarees for the bride and a bold white sherwani for the groom. The couple then swapped out their traditional attire for more modern looks, with Sneha slipping into a sparkling silver lehenga and Deepan sporting a classic black tuxedo.
Looking back on their wedding day, they couldn’t be happier with how it all unfolded: “Our advice to engaged couples is simple: enjoy this time! It’s the only season of your life when you’ll be engaged, and it deserves to be savored.”

How did you meet?
Sneha: We were set up by a mutual friend who went to college with Deepan. To this day, we’re not quite sure what made him think to set us up—but we’re glad he did! Whatever he saw in us clearly worked, because we think we make a pretty great match.

Tell us about the proposal:
Deepan: I proposed in a small town on the Amalfi Coast called Ravello. I knew I wanted to do a destination proposal, and we had wanted to go to the Amalfi Coast for a while, so I figured it was the right place to pop the important question! I told Sneha that I was taking her to a fancy brunch and we had to dress up, but I think as soon as she saw me dress up in a suit, I think she figured something was up.

Wedding Style: Describe your wedding attire. What was the wedding shopping experience like for you?
Sneha: For our wedding ceremony, we each had two outfits, blending tradition with personal style. In South Indian weddings, it’s customary for the bride to wear silk sarees. Typically, the bride begins the ceremony in a saree gifted by her family, and then changes into a saree given by the groom’s family for the tying of the knot.

The groom traditionally wears a silk veshti and silk shirt—veshti being a draped silk cloth worn around the waist. Deepan chose to bring in a bit of flair by wearing a sherwani for the Baraat and the first part of the ceremony, before changing into the more traditional attire.

For the reception, we switched things up with a more modern look. Deepan wore a classic black tuxedo, timeless and sharp, while I wore a silver lehenga—elegant, graceful, and something I know will feel just as special years from now as it did that night.

Culture: Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
Sneha: We had a traditional South Indian Tamil wedding, which was especially meaningful to us as we both come from Tamil backgrounds. It was important for us to honor our roots while also incorporating elements that felt true to who we are as a couple—balancing tradition with a modern touch.

Memories: What is your best memory from your wedding?
Sneha + Deepan: One of our favorite memories from the day was our first look. It was the moment everything felt real—the nerves, the excitement, the joy. Seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day was beautiful and emotional, and it’s a moment we’ll never forget. In that instant, we knew: this was really happening.

Advice: What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
Sneha + Deepan: Our advice to engaged couples is simple: enjoy this time! It’s the only season of your life when you’ll be engaged, and it deserves to be savored. Yes, wedding planning can be stressful, but try not to lose sight of the bigger picture. The goal is to be married, and no matter how the details unfold, that part will happen.

We’re truly loving married life—it’s a beautiful journey, and we’re so excited for you to begin yours.
– Sneha + Deepan
