When Kern first met Vanessa he was stunned by her beauty. He was too scared of being rejected to make a move. However, fate brought them into each others’ lives a year later and Kern knew he couldn’t let the opportunity to get to know Vanessa pass him by again. From that moment onward it was clear to both of them they were meant to be together.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We met through two mutual friends about five years ago. I was taken back by Vanessa’s beauty and paralyzed by the fear of being rejected. We met again about a year later and I did not waste anytime approaching Vanessa. We seemed meant to be together. From our deep love in God to our West Indian backgrounds it was magic.

Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? We are both of Trinidadian heritage so this heavily influenced their music and performances. There was a traditional Hindu dancer.

 Favorite item on the menu: The lemon crusted Salmon was to die for!

 First dance song: “Is this Love” by Bobby Marley

What is your best memory from your wedding? Our vows were hand written and represented the deep feelings of love and respect we have for each other.

Advice: What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Enjoy every moment throughout the process. The good and the bad because it is all apart of the wonderful journey you two are choosing to go on. Oh, and kiss…a lot!
