Wyatt and Vishwani’s multievent wedding on Long Island’s North Shore was the perfect celebration of love, family, and culture.
Now both attorneys, the couple’s romance took root when they were still students in law school. In September of 2021, Wyatt popped the question on a romantic boat ride around New York Harbor. Though a few hints may have spoiled the surprise, (including the “overly large engagement ring box protruding from Wyatt’s pocket,” as Vishwani recalls), the proposal marked an unforgettable moment in the couple’s love story.
Nearly three years later, Wyatt and Vishwani celebrated their nuptials with two days of multicultural festivities in East Northport, New York.
On the first day, the couple held a traditional Hindu ceremony that featured vibrant florals, eye-catching Indian attire, and a lunch reception complete with traditional dance performances. The celebrations continued on the second day as guests joined the couple for an outdoor Christian ceremony and danced away the night at an elegant dinner reception.
With meticulously planned fashion, a blend of cultural traditions, and plenty of cameos from their beloved dog, Blue, the couple’s wedding celebrations were uniquely theirs, perfectly capturing their love for one another, their friends and family, and their cultural backgrounds.

Tell us about the proposal.
To my surprise, Wyatt proposed on Sunday, September 5, 2021. As foodies and frequent explorers of new and exciting restaurants, Wyatt had arranged a dinner for us at the famous River Café in Brooklyn. The idea (and hope) is that for decades to come, we will return to The River Café to reminisce about this special moment in our relationship. Coupled with dinner, Wyatt informed me that his job had organized a boat ride as a “work event.” This second and post-dinner component would be the cover Wyatt needed to get me alone.
As we approached the Pier, the captain of the small boat informed us that the rest of Wyatt’s co-workers had either canceled or were running late.
I claim this is the moment when I knew. Indeed, it was either the suspicious solo boat, the bottle of Dom Perignon that Wyatt insisted we bring since the “work event” was BYOB, the pre-arranged assortment of chocolates, or the overly large engagement ring box protruding from Wyatt’s pocket since dinner.
We quickly set sail with a pre-arranged playlist that reminded us of our dating years, including a summer road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway. When we reached the Statue of Liberty, Wyatt approached me, got down on one knee, and asked me to make him the luckiest man on the planet. The rest is history.

Describe your wedding attire.
Day 1 Attire
Vishwani: I went for a traditional look with a twist: an elaborate red and white gold lehenga with pops of color to stand out. I had intricate jewelry and accessories and a bold make-up look.
Wyatt: Like Vishwani, I went with a traditional look with a twist: a gold sherwani with compliments of red around the borders, a red shawl with gold trimming, and a red and gold headpiece. The sherwani was complemented by red pants and white Gucci sneakers.

Day 2 Attire
Vishwani: I had two (almost three) looks: My first dress to walk down the aisle was a strapless low-cut mermaid lace and pearl dress, paired with a tulle overskirt and long veil with a floral and pearl border to match the train. After the ceremony, my train had an American bustle that I wore to the beginning of our dinner reception. I later changed into a simple, satin dress with a high slit (and we changed into matching white Air Force Ones)! My make-up was soft-glam to contrast with the vibrance of day one. I wore pearl stud earrings (a pre-wedding gift from Wyatt) and a simple pearl necklace. Shoutout to Viero Bridal who helped bring my vision to life and were an absolute pleasure to work with!

Wyatt: For day 2, I wanted to go with a timeless look, but also show cohesion with my bride’s beautiful and classic style. To do that, I went with a custom, cream-colored tuxedo (no cumberbund), a custom white tuxedo shirt, black tuxedo pants, and a black bowtie, all from Knot Standard (shoutout to Mario). To add the “timeliness” look to the tux, I opted for a “shawl” style for the lapels. The tuxedo shirt was complemented by studs that I would describe as a “black and white cookie” style.

My cufflinks were gold fishing spinning reels to honor my late grandfather, who passed in the summer of 2023. My grandfather was an avid fisherman and played a major role in my life. For my shoes, I wore black Gucci Worsh Patent Leather shoes.

What was the wedding shopping experience like for you?
Vishwani: I was open to trying every style and option out there – so it took me a while to settle on my outfits! I didn’t really have a vision of what I wanted to wear (whenever someone asked me – I told them I just saw Wyatt down the aisle and not what I was wearing!). I visited multiple (probably 10+) salons over months to find outfits for both days (not to mention outfits for the pre-Hindu wedding festivities), and was very happy I took the time to figure out my vision! Viero Bridal was an absolute pleasure to work with.
Wyatt: Like most men, the shopping experience for me was fairly simple. Despite its simplicity, I enjoyed getting ready to look my best for one of the biggest days of my life. I love a great suit, so I enjoyed customizing my tuxedo with Mario of Knot Standard. Shopping for my Sherwani and accessories was a culturally eye-opening but fun and exciting experience. I had never seen so many styles, colors, and fabrics. The best part was watching Vishwani light up when she saw me modeling in all of the options.

Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
We had two wedding ceremonies. Friday we did a traditional Hindu ceremony, followed by lunch. Most guests wore traditional Indian attire, and our families and friends did traditional dance performances. Saturday we did a traditional Christian ceremony followed by a dinner reception.

What is your best memory from your wedding?
The best memory was seeing how much fun our families and friends were having. We loved our family and friends coming together and embracing both cultures throughout all of our wedding festivities.
We also loved executing our first dance! Initially, we took a class to try to learn choreographed moves, but eventually ended up watching tons of YouTube videos and creating the choreography ourselves! We had so much fun practicing for hours.

What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
It is YOUR wedding; plan the wedding that YOU BOTH want. Learn to compromise early and don’t forget to have fun with the process!
