“Walk of Faith” – Adrianne and Marcus’s Gorgeous Winter Wedding in Atlanta

Gurley_Wedding51

All of life is a walk of faith. Every step we take, every decision we make, we do so with various degrees of uncertainty – the rest is faith. Faith in ourselves and our ability to make the “right” decision, and faith in knowing that we are being guided by a higher power. For Adrianne and Marcus, faith guided them right into each other’s arms, and though life will continue to be a walk of faith they now have someone to share that walk with, as one, for the rest of their lives.

Read all about Adrianne & Marcus’s love story and wedding experiences in this gorgeous winter wedding in Atlanta. Beautifully photographed by MunaLuchi Coterie member Andre Brown, planned and designed by Raven J. Events, cinematography by Eric Blanks Media, and music reception music by Exquisite Sounds and Entertainment.

Tell us how you met and about the proposal. Marcus and I met in 2010 as undergraduate freshman at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL. We shared a chemistry class and met through group work/collaboration on class assignments. We were only cordial during our undergraduate career and did not begin courting until 1.5 years after we began our graduate studies, I was at the University of Alabama at Birmingham pursuing my masters degree in occupational therapy. Marcus was finishing his doctorate of pharmacy degree at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. Marcus started Bible verse challenges over Facebook which included many of his former classmates and fellow FAMUans. One particular night I participated in the Bible verse challenge by sharing a sermon which changed my life. Marcus watched the sermon, then messaged me about how the sermon helped him. We continued to chat and the rest is history – we began courting on March 24th, 2015, and got engaged a little under a year later on March 20th, 2016, and then got married 9 months later on December 3rd, 2016. Each season has been a faith walk with the Lord and we are so thankful for it.

What was wedding shopping like for you? I loved my wedding dress! It was a beautiful sweetheart top/mermaid gown by Matthew Christopher! I purchased the gown from Bridals by Lori, and Matthew Christopher, the designer, was actually present when I bought the gown. He helped me get fitted and explained to me the vision he had for the gown when he created it. That day was truly magical.

What was the inspiration for your wedding? Our inspiration was and will ALWAYS be – The LORD. We wanted to make sure we honored GOD with our wedding, especially during this holiday season. We wanted the Lord to get the honor and glory from our wedding. We wanted Heaven to benefit from our union. So we asked wedding guests to bring donations such as: toiletries, unwrapped toys, canned goods, and school supplies in lieu of traditional wedding gifts so that the community could be refurbished as a result of our wedding. We collected 100s of toys and other donations, as specified above, to help the community. We believe by faith that GOD is satisfied and He will magnify the donations to meet the needs of His people during this holiday season.

What is your best memory from your wedding? The best memory was having GOD present, becoming one flesh as husband and wife, and having guests tell us how much they enjoyed themselves.

What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? We would encourage all engaged couples to trust in the LORD and cling to GOD at this time. Being lead by the LORD will help to avoid various situations. Being focused on GOD will also increase faith which will be necessary for marriage.
