Imagine being in a wedding to celebrate someone else’s union and finding the love of your life. That is exactly what happened to Nehemiah and Alexis.
Alexis shares, “we were both asked to be in our mutual friend’s wedding. Nehemiah was asked to walk with me at their wedding and was disappointed when he didn’t get to do so.” Nehemiah was so captivated by Alexis that weeks later he reached out to the bride and groom to get Alexis’s number. When they eventually connected, they talked all night- their chemistry was instant.
Years later, Nehemiah proposed during their housewarming party in front of family and friends.

How did you meet?
Hmm. Funny story, we began to have a very minimal conversation in high school that honestly didn’t lead to much. Time passed and we were both asked to be in our mutual friend’s wedding. Nehemiah was asked to walk with me at their wedding and was disappointed when he didn’t get to do so. A few weeks after their wedding, my best friend called me with her husband on the line saying Nehemiah really wanted my number and asked if it was okay to give it to him along with many other things to convince me to give him a chance. After talking with them some time, I gave in and told them it was okay! Literally, 5-10 minutes later he texted me, that conversation led to actually getting on the phone that same night! We talked for hours until sunrise, as if we had already known each other! The chemistry was bananas, ever since then, we have been inseparable!
Tell us about the proposal.
What I thought was a planned housewarming with our family and friends to celebrate our new home, turned out to be a surprise engagement proposal. My husband planned an entire spa day to keep me away from our home while he prepared the home for the proposal. He incorporated all of my favorites that I loved for this special night near our backyard lake including roses, fireworks, lanterns. The night was magical!
Describe your wedding style.
We decided to go with a classic tailored theme. Wedding shopping had it’s pros and cons as expected. For him of course it was super easy! He knew exactly what look he wanted. Classic slim fit was what he went for. For me in the beginning everything was going extremely smooth, visiting many different bridal boutiques trying to find the perfect gown. However, once the pandemic began to transpire, it started to put the looking at a halt. I ended up finding my dream wedding dress 4 weeks before the wedding to be exact! Two weeks after the state began to reopen from the mandatory shutdown due to COVID!
What is your best memory from your wedding?
We literally danced the whole night and forgot to cut the cake. The entire wedding day was beyond memorable for us, but the dancing was by far the best moment of the night.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
Don’t panic! Things might happen on your wedding day, but put God first in all things & enjoy every moment of your special day. And don’t forget to make a checklist it makes things go a lot smoother on that day.
