Three years after first crossing paths, Tyron (Scoot) and Chana Fields said “yes” to forever in a glamorous black and white wedding celebration in Summerville, South Carolina.
It was on a beautiful July evening in 2021 that Scoot first noticed Chana during an event in Charleston. Immediately struck with a feeling that Chana was special, he convinced his cousin, Candace, who was accompanying him that evening, to grab Chana’s number on his behalf. “She definitely left an impression,” Scoot recalls.
The feeling was mutual. Though Scoot left most of the talking to Candace, his bright white smile was enough to win Chana over. “To be completely honest, I really didn’t want to go out that evening,” Chana admits. “But I’m so thankful I did.”
Scoot made arrangements to propose to Chana at a family game night the day after Thanksgiving, but his plans were foiled.
After the Airbnb booking for the game night was unexpectedly canceled, Scoot had to pivot. He pushed the proposal to December, using a family Christmas photoshoot as his cover. Hiding the ring in one of the gift boxes on set, he thoroughly shocked Chana and popped the question in front of their family and friends.
On August 31, 2024, the couple tied the knot at The Coan in Summerville, South Carolina. During the ceremony, the couple stood out in bright white ensembles amid a sea of guests in black. Their chic black-and-white theme continued through the reception, where elaborate white floral arrangements contrasted against the tables’ black linens and the venue’s dark draping. Gold accents, glistening chandeliers, and a crystal-adorned gown added to the event’s glamorous feel.
Captured by MunaCoterie member Smithalee Photography, every detail of the event worked to bring the couple’s vision for their big day to life. See more photos from their gorgeous nuptials below!

How did you meet?
From The Memory of Scoot!
I was in Charleston on retirement leave when my cousin (Candace) and I decided to attend a social gathering one beautiful evening in July 2021. As we were enjoying the event, two young ladies approached our area to step away from the “thirst traps.” We offered them our seats, and as I gazed into the eyes of this lil light-skinned cutie, an unexplainable feeling came over me. I followed my gut, and quickly gave my cousin my phone so that she could get her digits for me! It looked as if the young lady put her number in my phone, but when I called my cousin the next day to ask her “What Lil Light-Skin’s name was from last night?”, she replied “Chana.” I didn’t see that name in my phone, so I chalked it up to her missing this blessing. I kept it moving, but never forgot the feeling that came over me when I first saw her… she definitely left an impression.

The Story Continues: The Chana Way!
He’s absolutely correct about it being a beautiful evening in July 2021, and if “hype your bestie up” was a person, his cousin Candace would most definitely fit the bill. That is what I initially remember, as he only said a few words that evening because he was too busy smiling with his pretty white teeth.
To be completely honest, I really didn’t want to go out that evening, but I’m so thankful I did. The Lord truly has a sense of humor, especially when we have our own plans of what we want and what we envision. He gives you not only what you desire, but what you need.

Tell us about the proposal.
Scoot: “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.” Now in order to understand how difficult it was to surprise Chana with this proposal, you must understand how NOSEY she is. She pays attention to routines and every single detail.
Proposal Attempt #1
When I knew it was time, I reached out to Chana’s family and friends to ensure that this proposal would be memorable for us both. We had already booked an Airbnb the night after Thanksgiving for a family game night. This was the perfect cover-up because Chana would not be suspicious about having friends and family over. I gave the “team” their marching orders, and the plan was put into play.
The day before the proposal, we received an email from the Airbnb host stating that they had accidentally double-booked us and that we would not be able to occupy the home that day. Needless to say, this ruined my entire plan, and quite honestly left me feeling defeated. I took some time to regroup and started brainstorming new ideas.

Proposal Attempt #2
Fast forward to the Christmas photoshoot that my sister planned for the family in December. I thought this would be the perfect time to try this proposal thing again. The attire for the photoshoot was formalwear – another perfect cover. We would both be dressed to the nines, and Chana wouldn’t suspect a thing.
I met with the photographer to help execute my plan – which was to hide the ring in one of the gift boxes already on set. My cue would be when the photographer tells me to “get on one knee”. When that time came, I did just that. I opened the prop gift box, revealing her engagement ring, and she was definitely surprised. Then she said: “YESSSSSSSSSS!!!” Our family and friends popped out of the shadows to surprise her and congratulate us, and soon after, the planning of “It Fields Good” commenced!

Describe your wedding attire. What was the wedding shopping experience like for you?
Scoot: My attire was all custom! I had an idea as to what I wanted, but my stylist Quort’nee Tucker took my ideas and collaborated them with his. This process pulled me out of my comfort zone, but it was fire!! I had two looks. For our ceremony, I had a double-breasted ivory jacket with a black satin lapel combined with a black satin abstract design across the front, in a paisley material accented with classic black tuxedo pants, a white tuxedo shirt (black buttons), satin bow tie and patent leather oxfords.

Chana: The moment I began my wedding dress journey, I knew I wasn’t just searching for a gown—I was searching for the one. The dress that would embody the love, joy, and magic of the day I had dreamed of for so long. My shopping experience was a whirlwind of emotions—excitement, anticipation, and a deep desire to find something that felt like me. I visited several bridal boutiques, each filled with stunning gowns, but none seemed to capture my vision completely. Some were beautiful but lacked the personal touch, while others had elements I loved but didn’t feel like the one.
Just when I thought I might have to compromise, I stepped into a boutique where my dress awaited, almost as if it had been waiting just for me.
While the gown was breathtaking on its own, I wanted to add a personal touch to make it truly one of a kind. I had the honor of working with an incredibly talented seamstress, Priscilla K. Vandross, who took my vision and brought it to life with her anointed hands.
She meticulously hand-stitched each delicate bead along the sheer illusion shoulders and sleeves she created, adding a subtle sparkle that caught the light in the most elegant way. Each bead was placed with precision, creating an intricate design that felt like it had been woven into the fabric of my love story.
When I put on the completed gown for my final fitting, I was overwhelmed with emotion. It wasn’t just a dress—it was a work of art, a labor of love, and a reflection of my journey to this unforgettable moment. The hand-sewn details made it feel deeply personal, almost as if the dress had been created just for me.

Scoot: For the reception, I wore a black tw0-button three-piece tuxedo matched with a black tuxedo shirt and the Travis Scott Air Jordan 1s to give it an urban look and feel to party!
Chana: My reception dress was the perfect, last-minute discovery designed by Albinadyla and found at The Ivy Showroom. An unexpected gem that stole the show. Every inch was covered in a cascade of shimmering crystals, it sparkled like a million tiny stars with every step, turning heads and commanding attention. The sleek, sculpted silhouette hugged every curve and exuded confidence and elegance throughout the night. It wasn’t just a dress, it was a statement, a showstopper, a breathtaking finale to an unforgettable night.

What is your best wedding day memory?
Scoot: My favorite memory from the wedding would be the loving energy exuding throughout the entire day/evening! Sometimes I feel it’s a little unfair that the brides don’t really have a moment to take in the audience like the groom does!
Chana: That moment, when the doors opened and I saw my husband for the first time on our wedding day, will forever be etched in my heart as the most beautiful and unforgettable memory. At that moment, every prayer, every dream, and every hope for my future was standing right in front of me. His expression said it all—love, excitement, and a promise of forever. It was as if the entire journey that led us to this day had been leading up to this very second. Walking toward him, I felt the weight of the moment settle in my heart. This wasn’t just a wedding; it was the beginning of a lifetime together. As I took each step, I knew without a doubt that I was exactly where I was meant to be—with him.

What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
Set a realistic budget and plan at your own pace. Weddings are pricey and can become overwhelming. Continue to check in with your partner throughout the process to ensure you both remain on the same page. The vows are for you; the party is for them!
The “day of” moves very quickly… don’t forget to enjoy the moment!
Remember: Love is patient and love is kind!
