Vineyard Destination Wedding in Napa by KT Merry Photography- Niamah + Darren

The dress, the headpiece, the venue. We can’t wait to flood your Monday with this sweetness! Niamah and Darren have a romance that bloomed from a blind date. Shortly after they were set up they continued making memories and even began planning their wedding before the proposal. Niamah admits “Darren can never wait to give me gifts or spill the beans on surprises. I always get birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, well before the day.” It’s no surprise that Darren actually planned an elaborate proposal, but his pounding heart just could not wait to ask his love to marry him.   And after a trip to Italy and a love affair with wine, Niamah and Darren chose a Napa vineyard as their dream destination wedding location.

Wedding Planning ……. “We immediately knew that we wanted a destination wedding. Because we had such a wonderful trip to Italy (early on in our relationship) and we love wine we decided very quickly that a vineyard would be the place. Napa was ideal because of its proximity to Vancouver and ease of travel from Bermuda. Our vision was elegance, simplicity and outdoors. We hired Off the Beaten Path weddings to manage the event planning process, however we were very involved with the look and feel.

We chose a private estate that had vineyards attached. We didn’t have a theme for the wedding but worked with the properties natural beauty. It is very elegant, rustic chic, with surprises around every corner. Our wedding flowed to different areas of the property which gave the guests a fun experience.”

Best Memories …. “Our first dance. We wanted to do something fun and different. It was Ni’s idea to start off with a slow song and then break out into an old school rap song with a funky dance. We started with Etta James (At Last) so you can imagine everyone watching us slow dancing close together. Then, the needle scratches on the song and on comes Rob Base (It Takes Two). Everyone starts roaring and we break apart and start this fun dance. To me, it was the highlight of the day. I also must admit, I was completely against it at first, especially while we were taking the dance lessons for it.”

Special Moments 

Bride ….  “Because both of my parents passed away I walked alone down the aisle. I felt strong doing this and imagined that their spirits was there with me. Darren and I both said this was the last walk I would take on my own and that was sentimental to me. I’m also really lucky that my Grandmother was with me for this special day, as she passed away last month. It meant the world to me to have her with me on my wedding day.”

Groom ….“It was like a scene from a movie. She looked absolutely stunning. I am pretty sure I had the biggest smile on my face and inside I was overwhelmed with emotion.”
